News of Don Boys' Final FarewellBy Paul Hayden March 13, 2023A dear friend of Conservative Truth has passed from this life to the next. Dr. Don Boys has gone to be with his maker, his Lord, his God. He will be missed. Here is a note we received from his wife of many years, Ellen, along with one of Don's final articles that he had been working on. Dear Dr. Boys’ Colleagues, I (his wife Ellen) am writing to you today with the news of Don’s death Thursday, February 16. He was 88 years old, and after several years on oxygen due to a chronic lung condition, his heart gave out. While he has had some difficult days in the past months, in his last week he was feeling good and at his desk writing even that Thursday morning. This is the first of the last two columns he wrote. I will send his final column as soon as I can. Don’s funeral will be held March 10 in Indianapolis, Indiana, at 6:30 p.m. I would like to thank you for your work with Don. His writing was an important ministry to him and gave much purpose to his days as he became increasingly homebound in these last years. I am grateful. Sincerely, Mrs. Ellen Boys
It was a treat, and sometimes a challenge, for me to work with Don. He was not afraid of speaking his mind, or of going against the grain of common thought. He wanted to be true to his understanding of the Scripture - the Bible. And he was unashamedly a Baptist, if you didn't know. He did not seem to care if his thoughts or writing made you feel uncomfortable, while he was sensitive to being honest with the truth as he saw it. I for one will miss his poignant insight, his cutting words of honesty, and his dry humor concerning our faith, life, culture, country, and world. ![]() "I was raised by a Christian minister, Kenneth Hayden, until his death when I was 10. Then my mom married a farmer. So I was raised in a very down-to-earth home. My faith has grown through the years, but both in conjunction with the institutional church and through small groups and individuals, including books as well as group settings, where deep, sincere faith is shared that aligns with Biblical truth."
