A K.I.S.S. For Good Luck!

First of all, I don't really believe in “luck.” I believe in God. 

A passage in Romans 8.28 in the New Testament says very well what I have come to believe:

“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”

Note that it does not say that God causes everything to happen. I don't believe that the God who is Love in any way is the cause of evil in this world. He created the world and set things in motion. As I understand it, He gave us free will, the power to choose in our lives. And He set natural law in place, like gravity. 

Sometimes, everything working at the same time converges in what some might call serendipity to create a moment in time that is just right, or what many call good luck. Random, seemingly coincidental adversity or misfortune is conversely called “bad luck,” and some people seem to have more than their fair share of it. 

I think we all play a big part in whether we experience good “luck” or bad. Often, our choices play a big part in how our lives go. In recent times, there is a concept worth noting, that if you play stupid games, you often win stupid prizes. It's a way of saying that if you do stupid stuff, you should probably expect stupid results. It has been really highlighted in word and video as “Darwin Awards,” where the dumbest things are done and result in horrible consequences, some of which might ultimately remove the “dummies” from the gene pool of the human race. 

One facet of my life that I lean on is summed up in the acronym KISS - Keep It Simple, Stupid! Yes, every now and then I refer to myself as “stupid.” Stupid is as stupid does. Don't be stupid. Don't do stupid stuff. Think! 

And Keep It Simple! There is some safety in simplicity. 

The more exposure you have, the more you put yourself out there, the bigger target you are. It's expressed somewhat in the little saying, "Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and to remove all doubt." 

Along with all of that, go ahead and take chances, calculated risks, because you might just “get lucky!”
