Life Is PreciousBy Paul Hayden May 4, 2026I sure had a scare about two weeks ago. When you feel like you can't breathe, it's alarming. But when the breath comes more easily once again, how sweet it is. The doctors are not sure just what happened with me, but it seems my third heart ablation (a “fix” for A-Fib) set off some sort of reaction that led into an acute congestive heart failure. Fortunately, with some fluid-control medicine and some rest, they quickly got me back breathing right and feeling better. So, I am on the mend, trying to get back some stamina. The beauty and wonder of being able to breathe in deeply is something we usually take for granted. But with spring here, and living out in the country in the midst of many trees and vegetation, the air we take in is sweet and filled with oxygen. It makes it even more welcome! Life itself is quite similar to this. Too often, we take it for granted. We find ourselves complaining about little things, while almost missing or discounting the overwhelming treasure and mystery and wonder that life truly provides. I really enjoy the little statements that you see now and then, as to the existence of God and our relationship to Him. If you run across an atheist, who doesn't “believe in God,” you might find that they believe that everything came from nothing. So, they believe in nothing. But that nothing was the source for everything. Like magic, I guess. Sort of maybe like the “fairy tale” that they say the Bible teaches as the foundation for Christian (and Jewish) faith. But it sure seems like everything coming from nothing is a far greater stretch than that God created everything from nothing. The “nothing” still didn't exist at the beginning, did it? Amazing but they just don't see it. Take care, and keep believing! God bless you all!

Paul Hayden is a Christian believer, and an American patriot, necessarily in that order. He is a student of the Bible, and is avidly interested in our role in the context of history, as understood through the heart and eyes of faith. Paul has lived and traveled somewhat widely, and now lives in the heartland of the U.S. (central Illinois), with his wife Donna - they have five grown children. Since December of 2016, he serves as the Editor-in-Chief of www.ConservativeTruth.org."I was raised by a Christian minister, Kenneth Hayden, until his death when I was 10. Then my mom Bonnalee Hunt Hayden married a farmer. So I was raised in a very down-to-earth home. My faith has grown through the years, but both in conjunction with the institutional church and through small groups and individuals, including books as well as group settings, where deep, sincere faith is shared that aligns with Biblical truth."
