Where Are The “No Communists” Protests?

April 6, 2026

I don’t unfailingly trust what is posted on Facebook, or Meta, whatever it’s called these days. But one recent posting on the latest spate of “No Kings” protests really hit home.

In it, the poster eloquently puts the protesters in their place by reminding them that as they try to bulldoze Donald Trump’s presidency, they are totally disregarding the thoughts and opinions of the tens of millions who voted him back into office. How dare they arrogantly claim that their far-left opinions speak for all of us, especially when it comes to things like defunding ICE. Yet that is the implication of their words and actions, and is a big reason I hold the so-called celebrity supporters of such events beneath contempt.

Here are a few questions that I wish an enterprising reporter would ask the protesters as they claim to be “saving democracy.”

  1. Please tell us how you define “democracy.”
  2. Do you believe the United States under Joe Biden was a democracy, while Donald Trump threatens its existence? If so, please provide some evidence besides “Orange Man Bad.”
  3. Are you aware that the United States is a representative republic, not a democracy? Do you know the difference?
  4. What inspired you to protest, besides hatred of Trump?

The comments for the protest posts were almost uniformly in favor of them; on the other hand, posts critical of the protests also had supporting comments. Just another illustration of the great divide in this country.

Another post from March 31st noted the anniversary of former President Lyndon Johnson’s “bombing pause” speech in which he informed the public he would not be seeking reelection in 1968. It was the comment section to this posting that really raised my hackles, because the massive ignorance of even recent history was so much on display. Trump haters were all too willing to believe how noble and unselfish Johnson was in supposedly putting the country’s best interests ahead of his own, versus the Bad Orange Man. Little did they know that Johnson’s decision not to run again was based primarily on self-preservation. When news anchor Walter Cronkite came out against the Vietnam War in February 1968, Johnson was quoted as telling aides, “If I’ve lost Cronkite, then I’ve lost America.”

He knew that his prosecution of the war, replete with half-truths and outright lies about its progress, had shot whatever political viability he once had. Johnson was also aware, from medical consultations, that his heart problems were serious and the continued stress of the presidency could prove fatal. Remember, bypass surgeries, heart transplants, etc., were just future dreams back then. And I don’t want to hear about how Johnson’s support of civil rights legislation offset his mistakes in Vietnam. This too was based on self-interest and his party’s interest: “We’ll have the (N-word) vote for the next 200 years,” a quote verified by reliable sources. As if that weren’t enough, Johnson was a socialist wolf in sheep’s clothing, given the “Great Society” programs he bequeathed to future generations and the predictable, massive failures of said programs to accomplish much except exploding the national debt.

With all of that in mind, it seems that a large chunk of America needs to be educated about the evils of communism and why that matters so much in these dangerous times. If the left is going to use these useful idiots to “save democracy,” then it’s up to our side to get the message out about saving our FREEDOM from the clutches of would-be pro-Marxist tyrants. We need to explain, in language that almost anyone with a pulse can understand, why the Democrat party of today is only a couple shades of gray different from the Marxists in Russia, China, and other current or former communist countries, where freedoms are restricted or squashed completely.

It’s not enough to point out that these No Kings “protests” are the ultimate in what the Dems used to call “astroturfing” (as contrasted with “grass-roots” origins) on those rare occasions, like the Tea Party when conservative people gathered to protest. That is, the protests are largely a sham. However, that doesn’t mean we should just sit back and laugh at them. They may well be reaching the apolitical “Normie Norms” out there who are getting restless about high gasoline prices and the possibility of “boots on the ground” in Iran. And unlike the hapless No Kings protesters, we have a laundry list of examples, many of them during Joe Biden’s presidency, that justify our position.

Pundits are already claiming that Democrats have the midterm elections in the bag, especially regarding a takeover of the House of Representatives. Knowing that people have very short memories these days, don’t count on recollections of Joe Biden’s terrible presidency to color voter tendencies, including independent voters who may sidle over to the Democrats this time around. If we don’t sound the alarm on how horrific this will be for the country, then who will?
