The Chasm In Our Country

September 29, 2025

The Charlie Kirk assassination has put an immense magnifying glass and spotlight on what is going on in our country, and even the world, at the current time. What was YOUR response, your reaction, your first thought?

I had not been closely following young Charlie, but was aware of some of what he was doing. He was involved in FAR more than I knew. And the more I see and hear directly with video and audio what he spoke, what he represented, and what he was trying to do, I am immensely impressed and pleased.

At first, news of his horrific death deeply touched me, far more than I thought it really should, given that I knew so little about him. But as time passes, I sense that it is a shockwave that is far, far larger than even Charlie himself. This has been tantamount to multiple nuclear weapons all going off at once around the world.

If there is a “spirit” world, and I believe there most definitely is, it is where the effect is happening. Remember back to Star Wars language, and “the force.” The Jedi knew when there was a “disturbance in the force," and they took note. Many people are aware of it, but relatively few really know what to do about it, or how it affects us. There is "the force," and there is a dark side, the evil, the antagonist, which is ugly and repulsive - unless you love it and give yourself to it.

Jesus spoke and lived in full awareness of the spirit world.

One of the highlights of Jesus' words about “spirituality” is found in John 4.23-24:

"But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth."

"GOD IS SPIRIT"

In speaking to one of His prophets, Samuel, God said to him, "…for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

In the midst of all the shockwaves of Charlie Kirk's passing, along with everything else that is happening in our country and the world today, keep in mind that God is not too shocked or taken by surprise at anything that is happening right now. God is still God! And I, along with many, many others, trust Him - with our lives. There is a quiet confidence that comes from knowing this, and growing in the awareness of God's love for us.

Blessings, everyone!

"I was raised by a Christian minister, Kenneth Hayden, until his death when I was 10. Then my mom Bonnalee Hunt Hayden married a farmer. So I was raised in a very down-to-earth home. My faith has grown through the years, but both in conjunction with the institutional church and through small groups and individuals, including books as well as group settings, where deep, sincere faith is shared that aligns with Biblical truth."
