SO WHAT?By Paul Hayden August 11, 2025SO WHAT? What an unusual phrase that we often hear, but do we just use it and not really think about it? I just read an article discussing how useful this little question-phrase could be in our lives. It doesn't necessarily mean, "Who cares?" - though it is probably used that way often. Just take anything you come across, something that's bothering you, a little (or large) fear concerning the near or distant future, or something that someone does or says to you, and ask yourself, "SO WHAT?" What does that really mean to me? What really matter does it make? How does that really affect my life? Why am I so concerned about such a relatively insignificant event or detail of life? From what I am seeing, there are quite a few people who could use asking this question to themselves, before they get so bent out of shape, or pop a vessel in their neck. Be thankful! Give thanks to God! Be kind to others! Be learning to trust God!

![]() "I was raised by a Christian minister, Kenneth Hayden, until his death when I was 10. Then my mom Bonnalee Hunt Hayden married a farmer. So I was raised in a very down-to-earth home. My faith has grown through the years, but both in conjunction with the institutional church and through small groups and individuals, including books as well as group settings, where deep, sincere faith is shared that aligns with Biblical truth."
