My Love For GodBy Paul Hayden March 3, 2025Do you love God? Can you love God? How amazing! How Bold! How natural! How fulfilling! To think that we “mere mortals” can love God, the spiritual being who created the universe and all that is in it - that is unthinkable. But we can. How? “WE LOVE BECAUSE HE FIRST LOVED US!” - 1 John 4.19 It is so easy to get hung up on so many arguments and details and reasons why or why not. How can we possibly say that we love God? If God even exists, why would He even care? We can sometimes get caught up in our thoughts. I was enjoying some of my favorite music today, and just sort of let my mind wander and spread out. It wasn't long, just a few minutes. But it almost seemed like the vastness of the universe became real to me, like standing outside at night and viewing the incredible sky full of stars, and wondering where God is. What is it like to “love God”? Jesus taught about God during His life here on earth. One of the most important things He shared is this. "God is spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth." John 4.24 He shared that “…God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.” God loves us - each one of us - more than we can ever really fully know. But we can know it enough to do something about it. It's not some unreachable spiritual achievement, unattainable except to the most devout and “religious” souls who spend their entire lives in contemplation and prayer and sacrifice. “We can love God, because He first loved us!” 1 John 4.19 Each one of us can be “born again,” “born of the spirit” as Jesus described to Nicodemus in John 3. When we believe in Jesus, we are born of the Spirit, born again, so that we can see and enter the Kingdom of God. It is for right now in our lives, as well as in the future. What does it feel like, to love and trust God? Imagine a little baby, snuggled into the arms of its mother. No worries. Being fed as needed, and cuddled with warmth and care, safe and secure. How much more does God love YOU! And care for you, and provide for you, and nurture you. The primary responsibility in the universe, the “first commandment” of our Creator, is to love God with all our heart, all of our soul, all our mind and strength. For whatever reason, or many reasons, it is so hard to grasp this simple thing in life. We think we are so smart. We get so complicated, when it is so simple and as uncomplicated as this. This, my friends, is the basis for life, for truth. From this basic foundation comes all else. It really is no more complicated than that. God bless you! Have a great week, and life!

Paul Hayden is a Christian believer, and an American patriot, necessarily in that order. He is a student of the Bible, and is avidly interested in our role in the context of history, as understood through the heart and eyes of faith. Paul has lived and traveled somewhat widely, and now lives in the heartland of the U.S. (central Illinois), with his wife Donna - they have five grown children. Since December of 2016, he serves as the Editor-in-Chief of www.ConservativeTruth.org."I was raised by a Christian minister, Kenneth Hayden, until his death when I was 10. Then my mom Bonnalee Hunt Hayden married a farmer. So I was raised in a very down-to-earth home. My faith has grown through the years, but both in conjunction with the institutional church and through small groups and individuals, including books as well as group settings, where deep, sincere faith is shared that aligns with Biblical truth."
