The Democratic Party Is In Turmoil, And Has Lost Its Way

February 17, 2025

We’ve come a long way since the November presidential election. Although only several months have passed, it seems the path we have been on has encountered many of life’s vicissitudes, harbingers, and extreme events. Each passage of time in days and weeks has seen death, tragedy, heartbreak, disaster, violence, upheaval, the good, bad, and the ugly.

On New Year’s Day, 14 innocent Americans were killed in a terrorist attack on the streets of New Orleans. In January, within a week, we witnessed two air disasters. On January 29 a passenger airline collided with a military Black Hawk helicopter, sending the fiery remains into the Potomac River in Virginia, killing 67 people. Then on January 31 in Philadelphia, a private medical jet air ambulance lost control and slammed into the ground in a fireball killing 6.

The newly-elected President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance, together with their cabinet and collaborator Elon Musk, have taken control. They are overwhelming the system, and are keeping all those promises made to the people, while the entirety of their detractors complain, threaten, and defy their every move.

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) has spearheaded its efforts to streamline, scale back, and or dismantle a number of agencies. NOAA/ National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, USAID/ United States Agency for International Development, FAA/ Federal Aviation Administration, the Treasury Department, the Military, FEMA, and Education, all are undergoing scrutiny; this is only the beginning.

In the midst of all this mayhem and what seems to be a conflagration on the American homeland, the political realm for one particular entity is in upheaval. The Democratic Party is angry and hate-filled. They have become ideologically antithetical to a majority of the American people, and are uncertain of their place in the mainstream of the culture and politics. And, it is my belief, and I say this without any cynicism or attempt at being humorous, they are suffering from a psychological breakdown, and the reason is their nemesis.

President Trump has driven the Democratic Party to the edge and disrupted the political system for them. In the three weeks of his presidency, agenda, and policy applications, he has caused the party to lose its way. Day after day, senators and House of Representatives members cannot contain themselves and their emotional outbursts. They are using some of the most extreme, vulgar, and highly inflammatory rhetoric. They seem lost in the wilderness making some of the most inane and delusional of comments.

In one particular encounter, a group stormed the Department of Education complex, instigated by a California congresswoman. This mob threatened and intimidated the security guard, used vulgar language, while castigating the president and Republican Party.

The Democrat minority leader in the Senate stood before a group of screaming, so-called resistance fighters, and made a complete fool of himself with his gestures and attempts to lead a rally cry that was nonsensical and proved quite embarrassing. Democrats are in disarray and should by now realize that a majority of the American people do not support their agenda, both politically and ideologically.

This same minority leader issued what the Democrats consider a game plan. It is composed of four integral actions that they hope will thwart the Trump agenda: Investigation, Litigation, Legislation, and Party Messaging. And as a safety measure, shutting down the Government, and creating a “snitch line.” Impeachment has also been threatened.

Further, there have been calls for violence in the streets. In one particular case, a Tennessee minister believes that there are times when words alone will not suffice, and that stronger more intense measures must be an alternative. When one congregant spoke out, saying in effect violence is not the way, the minister insisted this is different.

Whatever your political affiliation, we should take no pleasure in the state of the Democratic Party. Politics in America is composed of a (mainly) two-party system, with checks and balances. Until Democrats put aside their radical agenda, and indifference to the will of the people, that balance does not exist.
