The Mighty Pen

February 10, 2025

When we think of the expression "The Pen is mightier than the Sword,” our attention will usually be drawn to the written word, and a coming together of thoughts that can resolve disputes, bring about social and political change, and repress or perhaps even end the violence that has plagued humanity down through the centuries. You might look for such change in the media, both print and online, or in the words of authors of books and treatises, etc.

President Trump in his first two weeks in office, in extraordinary fashion, has wielded the pen and has upset the balance of the postmodern Culture War. If one were to list the issues that comprise the Right vs. Left, traditional values vs. secular, worldly, or the temporal, as I have in last week’s article, the outlook would be enviable in the one direction favorable to the Right.

The Democratic Party, media, advocacy groups, academia, Hollywood, and the entertainment industry are apoplectic over the executive orders that President Trump has initiated since taking office. Most if not all of these directives, it can be said, are proof that the pen can be mightier than the sword. These orders are direct attacks against issues and an agenda secular entities embrace, and that will hopefully help restore America to her true Judeo-Christian traditional values roots.

In one particular case, the issue involved the Obama and Biden administrations. The pens of these presidents signed on to the nation's setting aside tradition and conventional standards concerning the qualifications and experience a candidate for a government position must possess in judging that person's fitness. Both administrations also exerted their political power beyond government to the business community, which resulted in a number of major corporations adopting this methodology we have come to know as Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI).

The logical and most favorable aspects of applying a set of standards in considering a candidate’s qualifications for employment in any job category, in or out of government, should be practicable knowledge, skill in the field involved, and experience especially where the lives of people are involved. One would tend to think that an exceptional nation, like America, would have as its fundamental belief, that of a meritocracy.

During the Biden administration, especially, the pen was employed by the president to implement and further expand on the systemic application of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. DEI does not rely on logic and common sense in determining the best person to fill a government position. It bases its decisions on what is called “Identity Politics.”

The Democratic Party’s acceptance and use of Identity Politics is to select a person, not with merit and standards of excellence in mind, but from established categories, including race, religion, transgenderism, and LGBTQ experience. The party has proven it is not beholden and respectful to what a majority of the American people consider important in their lives, especially in cultural matters.

President Trump has proven himself to be a Pied Piper, so to speak, of the people, for they have followed him into hopefully a new era in America. He is dismantling the policies and pet projects of Democrats, the secularists, and the Deep State.

The pen is flourishing today, and we watch it almost daily as it dances across the milky white sheet with the words and sentences and punctuation that allow it to complete its mission. The pen reveals just how mighty it can be, especially when wielded in the hands of a man on a mission, perhaps even a visionary, a President of the United States, Donald Trump, who is using the time-tested device to bring about much-needed change.
