“The president and his cabinet will have to hit the ground running.” These words were included in a recent article I offered, and this thought has come to fruition with rapidity. The newly elected Trump-Vance administration has wasted no time in developing a cabinet. In some cases, the nominees have been rather controversial. Democrats, the media, and even some Republicans have expressed great concern, and their reactions have been intense and highly critical. But that is to be expected.
The newly elected President had expressed to the nation since his “Make America Great Again,” campaign began that he intends to shake things up in Washington. Specifically, to eliminate the “Deep State,” and purge the entrenched and ever-growing bureaucracy. Mr. Trump has become more a rebel with a cause, and is driving the so-called ruling class to their wits end.
Within 48 hours, Mr. Trump had designated a number of cabinet posts, several of which are destined to create controversy. As of this writing, the following individuals have been called upon to serve in the positions indicated.
- CHIEF OF STAFF: Susie Wiles - A political operative, and Trump's campaign manager
- SECRETARY OF STATE: Marco Rubio - Florida senator, and considered a foreign policy hawk
- ATTORNEY GENERAL: Open
- DIRECTOR OF NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE: Tulsi Gabbard - Former 3 term Congresswoman
- ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AGENCY: Lee Zeldin - Former Republican Congressman from New York
- UNITED NATIONS AMBASSADOR: Elise Stefanik - Republican Congresswoman from New York
- HOMELAND SECURITY SECRETARY: Kristi Noem- Current Republican Governor of South Dakota
- AMBASSADOR TO ISRAEL: Mike Huckabee - Former Republican Governor of Arkansas
- DEPUTY CHIEF OF STAFF FOR POLICY: Stephen Miller - Trump advisor and close confidant
- BORDER CZAR: Tom Homan - Former Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director
- NATIONAL SECURITY ADVISER: Mike Waltz
- CIA DIRECTOR: John Ratcliff
- SECRETARY OF THE INTERIOR/ ENERGY CZAR: Doug Burgam - Current Governor of North Dakota
- WHITE HOUSE COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR: Steven Chueng - Political operative
- HEALTH & HUMAN SERVICES SECRETARY: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. – Environmental lawyer
- SECRETARY OF LABOR: Brandon Williams
- PRESS SECRETARY: Caroline Leavitt - Trump advisor and confident since 2016
- ENERGY SECRETARY: Chris Wright - Current CEO of Liberty Energy
- SECRETARY OF VETERAN AFFAIRS: Doug Collins
- TRANSPORTATION SECRETARY: Sean Duffy - Lawyer, Fox News Host
- SECRETARY of COMMERCE: Howard Lutnick
- HEAD OF THE CENTER FOR MEDICARE AND MEDICAID - Dr. Mehmet Oz
- CHAIRMAN OF THE FEDERAL COMMUNICATION COMMISSION: Brandon Carr
- DEPARTMENT OF GOVERNMENT EFFICIENCY: Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy
The following cabinet positions will require Senate approval: Secretary of State / Attorney General / Environmental Protection / Homeland Security / National Security Advisor / CIA Director / Secretary of the Interior / Health & Human Services Director / Secretary of Labor / Energy Secretary / Transportation Secretary / Director of National Intelligence / Commerce Secretary / Chairman of the FCC.
What you might ask is the Department of Government Efficiency. As the title implies, this newly created non-cabinet undertaking controlled by Musk and Ramaswamy will review government agencies and the expenses they incur. The intent is to seek out and cut waste and mismanagement, and if necessary, purge the administrative state. Most of the American people are probably unaware of the waste the government sanctions. Here some examples.
- Checks from the IRS, Medicare, and veterans groups totaling $1.3 billion, sent out to deceased people.
- Prisoners still incarcerated receive Unemployment or Social Security payments, totaling $171 million.
- Medicare and Social Security payments totaling $101 billion due to fraud.
- IRS sent out payments totaling $546 million, due to tax cheating.
- National Institute of Health invested $549,000 in a Russian laboratory to perform experiments on cats.
- Spending $15 million dollars for security for Dr. Anthony Fauci, former head of NIAD. Fauci is retired.
- The Department of Health and Human Services hired 264 employees, at $38.7 million to oversee DEI.
These are but a few of the expenditures of taxpayer funds that the Department of Government Efficiency will review. According to Musk and Ramaswamy, they can save upwards of $2 trillion. It remains to be seen if this rather tremendous amount will be saved, but if it is, we will owe a debt of thanks to the DEPARTMENT OF GOVERNMENT EFFICIENCY.
