Against All Odds, He’s BackNovember 18, 2024They will write books, school texts will have chapters devoted to it, and the National Archives will house volumes. History will record for future generations what is believed to be one of the most, if not the most, amazing turn of political events. What you might ask is this all about, and am I exaggerating. Let’s first consider the facts, and you can decide. In the beginning, they mocked, laughed, and cajoled. When he announced a run for the presidency, most of his highfalutin' friends turned their backs and abandoned him. Since then, the attacks have been relentless and ruthless against him and his family. But this did not stop him; with courage, strength, fortitude, endurance, and heart, former President and now President-elect Donald Trump showed the nation and the world what a tenacious man of indomitable character, and what one on a mission, can achieve. The 2024 Presidential election was not a “Red Wave,” it was a tsunami that swept over the nation; a wave of devastation and of monumental proportions politically and socially. For months, we’ve been told that the race was too close to call; the polls showed a dead heat. But they proved to be wrong, by a long shot. Donald Trump and J.D. Vance, the president and vice president-elect respectively, and the Republican Party, swept the election and will now rule over the Executive Branch, Senate, and the House of Representatives. The former president won all the important battleground states. What makes this so amazing, and unprecedented in the history of America, is the road that the nation traveled along with its captain/navigator, Donald Trump, to get to this moment in time. He steered us through almost nine years of turmoil, and unabated relentless hostility by the Democratic Party, the media, academia, entertainment industry, Hollywood, and a biased Department of Justice. They accused him of being a threat to democracy, and called him Hitler, Stalin, Mussolini, a racist, homophobe, an anti-Semite, Nazi sympathizer, and a traitor. But through it all, as then president, Donald Trump fulfilled the promises he made to the people, while dealing with nefarious investigations for faulty allegations of Russian collusion, obstruction of justice, and election interference. When out of office, the madness did not stop. Democrats and their media handmaidens could not countenance the former president’s very existence. He represented a threat and all that is antithetical to their radical agenda and belief systems. Following the January 6 (2021) Capital protest, the anger and hatred by his detractors intensified tenfold, and impeachments followed. Mr. Trump was accused of causing an insurrection; this was eventually reduced to inciting a riot. When the former president retired to his Mar-a-Lago estate in 2021, the Biden administration decided to destroy any opportunity, and ensure that he would not enter the political arena ever again. They deployed the Department of Justice and its agencies and began an all-out pursuit to find something, anything, to take him down. In August of 2022, a contingent of heavily armed FBI agents stormed Mar-a-Lago in search of highly classified documents from Trump’s term in office; the former president was not home at the time. It was the Department of Justice’s contention that Mr. Trump took the documents when he left office. The agents rummaged through the entire estate, and discovered what was in their minds proof, the former president protested on the grounds of executive privilege. The DOJ appointed a special prosecutor to investigate. To add to their arsenal against Mr. Trump, although they would not admit it, the Biden administration directed the DOJ to open investigations through the local district attorney and attorney general of New York, both of whom are progressive Democrats. The cases that followed in 2023 were the real estate tax scandal, and the infamous porn star Stormy Daniels' hush money payments. The majority of the legal community and the American people considered both cases to be politically motivated and illegitimate. What followed was a public disgrace. The former president was ushered into New York courtrooms, while a throng of media, supporters, and detractors of Mr. Trump, clashed outside. He was convicted of 116 charges and found guilty of 34 felony charges, and was fined $454 million for the real estate tax fiasco. He was subjected to having to go through the humiliation and embarrassment of a mug shot. However, this did not deter or dishearten him; he placed the image on mugs and shirts, and sold them on the internet to finance his presidential campaign. As the trial and court appearances continued in New York, the former president took advantage and, after court hours, held rallies in predominantly minority neighborhoods and at construction work sites. He was enthusiastically greeted by thousands of residents and workers, to the consternation of Democrats and the media, who were aghast that he could draw such crowds in Democrat strongholds. The court appearances ended, and Mr. Trump resumed a more concerted effort in campaigning, holding up to three rallies a day. Throngs of enthusiastic and jubilant MAGA supporters gathered and cheered the former president. Then it happened, what some feared was inevitable. On July 14, 2024, while holding a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, eight shots rang out, and the former president was hit by an assassin’s bullet that pierced his right ear. Had he not turned his head slightly to the right, the bullet would have killed him. Instead of diving for cover and remaining on the ground, Mr. Trump stood up, raised his fist, and shouted out “Fight, Fight, Fight,” to the people. The other bullets hit and killed an attendee, and seriously wounded two others. A second assassination attempt was made in September while Mr. Trump was on the golf course. Iran has also put a bounty on him, fearing his presidency. The assassination attempts have seriously damaged the Secret Service's reputation, many accusing it of ineptitude and failing its charge. As of today, the investigation by the FBI and Secret Service has gone nowhere. This has given birth to conspiracy theories that infer this could have been an inside job, and that the hatred for the former president is so intense that the two agencies, the Democrats, media, and even some Republicans have looked the other way. On November 5, 2024, the American people spoke, and they determined that former President Trump spoke to them in a way that most politicians are unable to do. People of every ideology, political party, ethnicity, race, creed, and religion went to the polls and voted, and I believe I can speak for most of them. In the history of the American ethos, and the trials and tribulations generations have lived through, one man, battered, insulted, demeaned, wounded, and hated, emerged from the fire and showed the nation and the world what faith, tenacity, and love of country can achieve. President-elect Donald Trump is that man. God Bless him, the American people, and the United States of America.
