How's Your Heart?

June 24, 2024

Welcome to Conservative Truth.

How're you doing? How's your heart?

I am currently bothered (a little) by A-Fib - atrial fibrillation. I had some of it back in 2013, had a "cardioversion" (shocked my heart back into regular rhythm), and was good until earlier this year - Valentine's Day to be exact. I feel okay, but fatigue a little easier it seems, and my heart wants to beat a little faster than my normal. So...we're working on it. It may take a procedure called an "ablation," which is a very precise deadening of very small parts of the heart that are sending out extra or incorrect electric pulses, signals that help balance and regulate the beating of the heart. The doctor says my heart looks good, functioning well, and everything else is in pretty good order.

But what do they know?

1 Samuel 16.7 But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

Even with the workings of the heart, man is looking at the outward function. But they have no idea how or why the heart beats, or why it keeps going. God is involved in our lives.

It can be an awesome thought that God sees everything about our hearts, our thoughts, our everything. But to know that He cares for us, He loves us, more than we can ever fully know, is also comforting. Especially in light of the fact that He does know us intimately and so well!

Take the time to really show that you care about someone this week. It will be good for your heart!

Blessings! Have a good week!

Paul Hayden

Since December of 2016, he serves as the Editor-in-Chief of www.ConservativeTruth.org.

"I was raised by a Christian minister, Kenneth Hayden, until his death when I was 10. Then my mom Bonnalee Hunt Hayden married a farmer. So I was raised in a very down-to-earth home. My faith has grown through the years, but both in conjunction with the institutional church and through small groups and individuals, including books as well as group settings, where deep, sincere faith is shared that aligns with Biblical truth."
