Steven A. Smith Has Had Enough of Leftist Bull

July 15, 2019

On a recent episode of the Steven A. Smith show, the acclaimed sports reporter went off on the far-left movement currently overtaking America. More specifically, he went after the NBA's politically correct agenda.

Since becoming commissioner of the NBA, Adam Silver has made it his priority to guide the league in a more "progressive" direction. One such example is the NBA boycott of North Carolina. The state had mandated that individuals be assigned to their bathrooms based on biological gender. Due to the arbitrary nature of gender identity, this notion seemed far from ridiculous. Despite this, many left-leaning organizations, including the NBA, decided to boycott the state for its apparent biogotry.

Although the law has since been rescinded and the ban has been lifted, the NBA continues its crusade towards a progressive utopia. One such move in that direction is refering to team owners as governers. Players such as Draymond Green find the term owner problematic.

"For starters, let's stop using the word owner and maybe use the word Chairman," Green said. "To be owned by someone just sets a bad precedent to start. It sets the wrong tone. It gives one the wrong mindset."

Steven A. went off about this notion, vehemently disagreeing with Green and the NBA. "The idiocy in this politically correct world that we're living in, where we gotta literally have a discussion to the point where it becomes a media storyline. Oh my God. An owner says he owns his team. That's offensive to people, y'all are smoking crack."

He went on to say, "I have no problem with folks just sitting there saying we're calling them governers or whatever the case may be whatever. But to actually create storylines where it's a problem with the word 'owners.' I've always disagreed with Draymond Green about that."

It is a ridiculous notion. NBA owners own the team, not the players. They are responsible for all the overhead costs, managing the arena, etc. They own the equity of the franchise. To suggest that somehow this represents them owning the players in a sort of slave-like fashion is utterly preposterous.

Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, elaborated on this idea, saying Draymond Green should apologize for his statements. "He owes the NBA an apology. I think he does, because to try to create some connotation that owning equity in a company that you busted your ass for is the equivalent of ownership in terms of people, that's just wrong. That's just wrong in every which way."

It's clear that the NBA is going head first towards leftist idealogy. Mainstream media has been there every step of the way to cheer them on. It's nice to know that some members of the media, such as Stephen A. Smith, aren't drinking the Kool Aid.
