Liberal Justice Ginsburg had to get DRUNK to go to the State of the Union! -by Onan Coca

February 16, 2015

I can’t blame her, really. I mean, I have to break out a drinking game just to make it through the choreographed circus that the State of the Union (SOTU) has become. President Obama simply uses his time in front of the camera to attack and demean the Republican Party while pretending everything he’s done has been 100% perfect… it get’s old, fast.

I, at least, have the comfort of my couch from which to sit and yell at my TV. (And a nice adult beverage resting approvingly in my hand).

Justice Ginsburg has to actually be at the event and can’t talk or even get up and walk out. So I can’t disparage her when she admits to rolling into the State of the Union so inebriated that it sends her into an alcohol induced coma midway through the evening’s events.

Ruth Bader Ginsburg Sleeps

Justice Ginsburg was unaware that she apparently passed out during the President SOTU speech until she got home for the evening and got a call from her granddaughter saying, “Bubbe, you were sleeping at the State of the Union.” Nope… not asleep exactly, just wasted. (Again, she was going to sit through an Obama speech… wouldn’t you want to have a few drinks first too?)

“The audience — for the most part — is awake because they’re bobbing up and down all the time and we sit there, stone-faced, sober judges. At least I wasn’t 100 percent sober because before we went to the State of the Union we had dinner.

Justice Kennedy brought in … it was an Opus something or other, very fine California wine that Justice Kennedy brought, and I vowed this year just sparkling water, stay away from the wine. But in the end, the dinner was so delicious, it needed wine to accompany it.”

You may scowl and purse your lips at Justice Ginsburg for being so indecorous, but Justice Scalia said it best – after hearing that his Supreme Court colleague was blitzed for the State of the Union he said, “Well, that’s the first intelligent thing you’ve done.”

Oh. Snap. Way to go, Justice Scalia!
