Conservative Truth
Dr. Tom Barrett
Last December I was privileged to work with Candy Carson as we sang together in Handel’s Messiah. Later she asked me to bring my guitar and help lead her church’s Christmas caroling at a local hospital. On both those occasions, I had the opportunity to talk with Dr. Carson about our nation.

At one point I felt comfortable enough with him to share what I thought his real job as a Cabinet Secretary should be. I prefaced my remarks by saying I didn’t expect him to react to my remarks; he hadn’t even been confirmed to his post at that point, and he had to be careful. But when I finished he had a smile and a twinkle in his eye that told me he felt the same way as I did.

I said, “Ben, this is just my opinion as a citizen. I believe your responsibility as the Secretary of Housing and Urban Development is to start dismantling your department as soon as you get to Washington. You can’t dissolve it. Congress should, because it, along with most of the other Cabinet-level departments, is unconstitutional."  More...

The Democrats and the Liberal news media have egg on their collective faces - again - and Trump is proven right - again. Remember Hillary saying that Trump wouldn't release his taxes because (A) He didn't pay any taxes; and (B) He isn't really rich. (The actual reason he hasn't released them is that he is being audited by Obama's IRS and has been advised by his attorney not to.)

Well, extreme Liberal "journalist" Rachel Maddow looked like a total idiot Tuesday night when she tweeted 90 minutes before her show that she had Trump's tax returns. She promised a bombshell. What we got was a firecracker that didn't explode.

Thank God, President Trump is not playing by standard ineffective rules for Republican behavior. He is calling out Leftist fake news media, democrats, and other liars, while quickly moving forward with the domestic agenda he promised during his campaign. By calling them out, Trump puts Leftists on the defensive for a change while retaining his power. There's a new sheriff in town folks, and I love it! More...

Would we force a printer to produce a poster with a message offensive to him, a black carpenter to build wooden crosses that the KKK intends to burn, or force a Muslim butcher to sell pork? No, we would allow these businessmen to allow their right of conscience to guide their right of contract. More...

The new American Health Care Act has been unveiled, and it has been pronounced an even greater disaster than Obamacare. Dubbed “Ryancare” or “Trumpcare” (over the objection of White House staff), the Republican health care bill is under attack from all sides, with even conservative leaders calling it “Obamacare Lite”, “bad policy”, a “warmed-over substitute,” and “dead on arrival.” More...

I’ve often said that liberals are the only humans who believe they have the ability to peer into one’s soul. Regardless of what anyone even leaning right says, leftists can see inside and tell the world what you “really” meant. Chris knows that King doesn’t really mean all that nonsense about being “different looking.” He’s talking in code, about preserving only the white race – because he’s – you know – a racist. More...

Liberals lean on the fact that a slight plurality (37% to 36%) of abortions are performed on white women over black women, ignoring the fact that whites outnumber blacks by a 5-to-1 margin. They also look back at the Progressive era and Sanger’s love affair with eugenics as somehow innocuous. They claim she had only an admiration for “good” eugenics, which is now no longer trendy, not that bad ol’ eugenics that actually was in favor of killing people... like Planned Parenthood does. If Paul Ryan’s ObamaCare-lite bill makes it to President Trump’s desk in any form close to what it is now and he signs it, it will become Trump’s healthcare debacle. Although it should be called RyanCare or CowardCare, it will ultimately end up as what I coined on Wednesday – O-DonaldCare.

And this is the shame of it. The President can’t know everything, so he must rely on honest brokers to give him an accurate account of various bills. Rand Paul, who is steadfast against the Republican bill, thinks the Republicans, particularly Paul Ryan, are not being accurate or honest with Trump. My buddy, Onan Coca at Constitution.com quotes Paul saying: “I don’t think it makes any sense and I think he’s [Ryan] trying to pull the wool over the eyes of the President.”

One of The Washington Post’s big disclosures on Sunday (3/10/17) was a front-page story about President Donald Trump’s choice of a cemetery. It was the latest contribution from reporter David A. Fahrenthold, whose job it is to probe every aspect of the life of the new President, no matter how esoteric and trivial. On the other hand, when it comes to covering the paper’s owner, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos, and his ties to the CIA and the National Security Agency (NSA), the paper is AWOL. More...

President Trump is getting flak from all groups for not producing what he promised; however, his critics are being unreasonable. It must be remembered that he was not chosen as dictator or benevolent monarch but as President - meaning that he has limited powers. Does anyone suggest that he should be able to give a command and it be obeyed? He has been given power but not absolute power. After all, he’s only the President of the United States. More...

The liberal media have always had an advantage over conservative media because of their billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies. But now, if the Trump administration has its way with the budget, the liberal media may be reduced significantly in size.

“Public Radio and Television Stations Face New Threat of Budget Cuts” is the headline over a Wall Street Journal article about proposed Trump administration budget cuts to the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), and public broadcasting. These cuts “are being considered to offset the Trump administration’s proposed increase in defense spending,” the paper said. More...

With massive leaks of classified information, some of them stemming from undiscovered moles in the intelligence community, the media continue treating former officials of the CIA and NSA who have presided over this debacle with honor and respect. More...

The idea that the so-called mainstream press somehow stands apart from its own vested interests, or, put another way, against their own agenda, is laughable at best. The distinction between biased advocacy news organizations and the supposedly independent press has not only blurred—it has become obsolete. Organizations such as The Daily Signal and Breitbart are just as capable of speaking truth to power as media outlets such as The New York Times, the Post, ABC, CBS, NBC, and MSNBC. More...

It’s no secret that the Trump administration has established a “new paradigm” in dealing with the press. It’s something we have advocated from the start of the new administration. One major aspect of the new approach is accepting the conservative media as legitimate members of the press. After this produced changes in how the press covers the State Department, the gnashing of teeth really began. More...

“I’m as mad as hell, and I’m not going to take this anymore!” (Quote from Network, a movie from 1976.)

“The anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God!” (James 1:20)

Conservatives, including many Christians, are reaching the limits of their patience. I have heard it said that an aspect of being conservative is simply wanting to be left alone. Far from being left alone, our lives are being flooded with distasteful and uninvited influences. When the deluge of attacks becomes unbearable, the counterreaction is almost inevitable. There is a growing voice, becoming louder and more clear, that must necessarily rise up to be heard. More...

Many traditionalists won’t like this revelation, but facts are facts, and this is not fake news. Patrick (original name was Sucat) was born in Scotland about A.D. 375 and lived about 85 years dying in 460.  As a teen, he was captured by marauding raiders and taken to Ireland where he was sold to Milcho, a Druid chieftain and held in slavery for six years. Patrick said that he was hungry and naked during that time. He eventually walked 200 miles to the Irish coast to escape and to find his way back to Scotland.

We all need God’s perspective on life too. That’s what the Bible is all about. Talk about fullness, it’s all there if we allow God to talk to us. Maybe to get God to understand our viewpoint, we must first understand God’s viewpoint. God will present you with the bigger picture. You might even start seeing things from His viewpoint and get some peace. He wants you to make that putt.
