The Unwinding of Corrupt Iran

Iran is the latest incarnation of Persia, which pre-dates Christ. Reza Shah Pahlavi came to power during WWII. He modernized the country and was pro-America. When he was forced to leave Iran, President Jimmy Carter supported anti-American Ayatollah Khomeini as the Supreme Leader of the Islamic State.

Sharia law governs. Homosexuals are executed. Women without veils are arrested. Media is censored. Journalists are imprisoned and tortured. Citizen executions are second most in the world.

Iran became a sponsor of terrorism during the Clinton Administration. Iran repeatedly violated the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. President Obama hailed The Nuclear Deal as “a window to resolve important issues,” when the U.S. ‘plus 5’ signed it in 2016.

President Trump announced that we are exiting the Iran Nuclear Deal. He resumed sanctions on banking, shipping, refineries, Iranian oil exports, and more.    

Iran’s economy is in a downward spiral with record unemployment. The rial (currency of Iran) is down 50%. Prices skyrocket. Iran banned many foreign goods from entering, and imposed restrictions on foreign exchange to stop foreign currency leaving the country.

Fruitless government solutions and corruption pressure Iranian President Rouhani. He proclaimed, “If anyone thinks the government will resign, they are mistaken.”

Iran’s Parliament pressures Rouhani to change his economics. Blackmail letters to France, Germany, and Britain list economic demands for Iran to stay in the Nuclear Agreement, threatening that otherwise, Iran will ramp up uranium enrichment. 

Demonstrations similar to the 2009 Green Movement are taking place. The death toll is at least 25, with hundreds arrested. Protests are about the economy, corruption, funds spent on out-of-the-country military, anti-hijab, and gender segregation.

President Trump tweeted “All of the money that President Obama foolishly gave them went into terrorism and into their pockets. The people have little food, big inflation, and no human rights. The U.S. is watching.” 

Rouhani boasted “We will not surrender before America.” Emperor Hirohito (Japan, WWII) said that, and look what happened!
