Free Speech in US is on Slippery SlopeJuly 20, 2015Even though the PC crowd yells the loudest that those who disagree with them are intolerant, racist, bigot, homophobes, they are proving they are the truly intolerant and bigoted ones. One can scream that people have a right to their opinions, but it is hypocritical to condemn those whose opinions are contrary to yours. If one wishes to express their opinion, that is their right and it is also their responsibility to intelligently defend it; calling those who disagree with you hateful names is not intelligent and definitely not responsible. Many of us have served this country defending the individual’s right to their beliefs and opinions, no matter if they agreed with ours or not. Now, unfortunately, it seems that one’s opinion has to fall within the spectrum of whatever the Politically Correct say it should be, or one is condemned and called names, often having one’s reputation besmirched because they won’t capitulate and conform to the PC line. We are no longer free society when we allow the few to dictate what the individual is to feel or believe. All authoritarian societies started with the control of individual speech and public opinion, then the condemning and ostracizing of those who may have disagreed. We often do not realize what a slippery slope we may be on, my friends.
