Domestic Enemies of Liberty

“The battle is not to the strong alone; it is to the vigilant, the active, the brave.”
--Patrick Henry

Another Fourth of July filled with patriotism and love of country has come and gone. Given the events of this past year, we shared a concern that terrorists would disrupt our holiday, but their deadly plans were thwarted by a federal government now focused on what’s really important - ensuring our safety.

The foreign enemies of liberty have been kept at bay.

I believe it’s an appropriate time to thank those who have renewed their promise to keep us safe, and have delivered on that promise: our military, our FBI Agents, our police officers, our firemen, our doctors and our nurses – these are the true American heroes of our time.

No significant act of terrorism has occurred since September 11, 2001, which proves that the federal government – under new management – has the ability to fend off our foreign enemies.

Sadly, the domestic enemies of liberty, our homegrown anti-patriots, have been working harder than usual. They behave like mindless termites, eating away at the foundations of our great nation.

The U.S. Senate, under the control of Liberal forces, has monkey-wrenched efforts of the Bush administration to fill the many federal court vacancies that our Supreme Court justices have rightfully labeled a “crisis.”

As a direct result of these forced vacancies, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in California asked a retired judge to return to the bench to help reduce the heavy backlog. His “help” came just days before our precious Independence Day in the form of an appalling and absurd ruling: people could no longer use the phrase “under God” when reciting the Pledge of Allegiance.

Think for a moment about the depth of hatred this man must have for those of us who believe in God.

In other forums, like our mainstream media, the Liberals are determined to hold on to power despite the fact that they are destroying the very foundations upon which this nation stands.

For years The Patrick Henry Center and other like-minded groups have been reporting that the media is heavily biased against Conservatives, rarely giving them a voice or an opportunity to state an opinion. Meanwhile, outrageous Liberal opinions are relentlessly splayed across newspapers and on television networks. Liberals wage a relentless war against the Bush administration, slinging mud at our president and his dedicated team. I’m convinced they won’t stop as long as they draw breath!

You may be aware that a new book has just been published that describes in great detail how the Liberal media attempts to silence and shut out people like us. Author Ann Coulter’s Slander: Liberal Lies About the American Right, has just achieved the #1 spot on the New York Times bestseller list – and you know Liberals are stomping mad about this!

Her book is an excellent and accurate analysis of the prevalent lies in the mainstream media. She provides many credible examples from Conservatives across the nation, including a reference to my own experiences:

“In light of events since the release of Aldrich’s book, leading to Clinton’s impeachment, contempt citation, and disbarment, Aldrich appears to have been vindicated with a whoop!”

I am, of course, pleased that my account has been corroborated, but, as Coulter clearly shows, media bias remains rampant. Vindication does not mean we can lay down our swords of liberty. Rather, the 9th Circuit Court ruling is a grim reminder to us all of the need to increase our efforts in this battle against the “Politically Correct.” Right now, every Conservative voice must be heard!

It is our duty as citizens to be aware of and active in the dealings of our government. Heed Patrick Henry’s call to action when he implores us: “Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel.”

It is only with this vigilance and care that we will protect our precious freedoms and fight for the rights, liberties and time-honored traditions handed down from Patrick Henry and our other Founding Fathers.
